Five mini-experiences, each introduces a unique fear trigger—a two-years study with dozens of participants, designed to examine the way fear manifests in each of us.
We were requested to trigger sustained fear responses without jump scares, allowing scientists to analyze emotional and physiological reactions in a controlled, immersive setting.
We started by identifying fear types that translate well into VR. We dove deep into each scenario, trying to understand what specific implementations will enhance its fearful impact.
Each scene was fine-tuned through multiple pilot sessions, focusing on finding the right pace, avoid immersion breakers, and ensure comfort.
The whole experience was designed for VR first-timers, ensuring natural locomotion on a 2x2m room and a single-button controller interface.
