Teaching the Gutenberg’s printing process through a fun & historically accurate short experience.
Transporting history students to the early 1600s, allowing them to experience, not just learn about, the hands-on challenges of a craft that shaped modern knowledge.
I collaborated with a book-history researcher to map the entire historical printing process. We divided it into three stand-alone modules, each with its own mechanics and flow:
1. Type carving and molding
2. Compositing (setting letters)
3. Inking and using the printing press
Due to strict budget constraints, we chose to focus on compositing.
We made adjustments, designed simple interactions, and created an experience that strives to replicate history accurately while remaining fun and satisfying.
